Hi, We have just moved to Frankfurt (3 weeks ago) but we have been busy as I have 2 boys aged 8 & 10. Some suggestions for places1. Palmengarten and Gruneburg park. - Palmengarten has a fantastic water playground as well as playground. All this great equipment to move water around. Make sure you take your swimmers or don't worry about wet clothes. We also enjoyed looking through the exhibit houses and going rowing on the lake. You can hire a row boat for half and hour. If you have small children and live close by I believe there is a yearly pass that is very worthwhile.Gruneburg park has great paths and play areas.2. Another great pool is the Freibad Eschersheim. You can catch the U1, U2 or U3 to Hedderheim and follow the crowds. It has an ernormous park area with green grass to sit on and have picnics. The widest slide I have ever seen and a big sprinkler area for the kids to run through as well as pools. It is busy but it didn't seem overly crowded during the week. 3. We have invested in bikes very quickly. We live in the Escherheim area near Volkpark and the Nidda river. There are bikes paths through all the parkland with no traffic. We also got the maps of the bike paths around Frankfurt so you can work your way around without the main roads. I hope this may be of help.Trish Rasmussen

End of school year, worries in the air...
School issues are always on our minds. However, dealing with school matters in a foreign country can turn easily into a real nightmare if you don't get to understand how things work fast. I am starting a series of articles on this matter. This first article is an introduction to what you can expect when putting your children in German primary school. The next articles will give a detailed explanation on the educational system itself, what Gymnasium, RealSchule, Sondershule really mean for your child's future...Is it possible to pass from the ones to the others? You comments, links and experiences are welcome! Posted by: admin on May 23, 2006 - 02:29 PM Read full article: 'Battling with School problems -1' (513 more words)
